The Unicaja has taken the Silver Award in the ceremony of the One Team Award within the ninth Annual Workshop on One Team held in Barcelona. Anadolu Efes Pilsen and Tofas Bursa got the Awards of Gold and Bronze, respectively.
These annual awards, which have been delivered today for the third time, are intended to celebrate and recognize the most inspiring, effective and carried out by the clubs. Along with the trio winning, the list of nominees also included Asseco Arka Gdynia, AX Armani Exchange Milan and FC Barcelona.
The president and CEO of Euroleague Basketball, Jordi Bertomeu, who presented the awards, commended the efforts of the 40 clubs to achieve beneficial outcomes for the neediest: “When One Team started it was a very small, so I am very proud to see how it has grown in the last few years. That says a lot about how hard our teams have been working for One Team to be a success, and I’m grateful for your time, effort and commitment. What is most important in life are the people, and the power of basketball is just a tool to support communities.One of the objectives of Euroleague Basketball is to make people happy. And even more than our Final Fours or any other exciting moment of the season, we make people happy by helping them through One Team”.
The program gold winner of the Anadolu Efes worked with Special Olimpics and focused on the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
Unicaja worked with a new partner, Down Malaga, during season 2018-19. Jose Carlos Gaspar, Director of Social Marketing and responsible for the program at Unicaja has picked up the prize this morning. After the ceremony, he was very happy with the result of the programs of this year: “we Started working with Down Malaga this season as one of our projects to help people with Down Syndrome and their families. These guys and girls are excellent people who have done an amazing job, every day prepared and with great motivation. They are the key to this-and deserve this award. I also want to thank the Unicaja Foundation and Unicaja Bank for your support and constancy. We know that each training session of One Team it is very important to Down Malaga, and we look forward to working with them again next season.”
in addition to this program with Down Malaga, this year One Team of Unicaja, has also worked with Project Man and the Fundación Marcelino Champagnat school in the Colegio María de la O of The Asperones and Monte Pavero, thanks to the collaboration of Malaga city Council, the Club and Marist and Unicaja Foundation. All of these projects attended always with the cooperation and motivated the involvement of the ambassador of One Team of Unicaja, Adam Waczynski who attended many of the sessions and worked with a lot of love with all the young participants and with the volunteers of Basket4Life, Fundación Unicaja, and some sponsors.
